WHIPPED BODY BUTTER
Body Butters have become a popular addition in the daily skin-care regimen of many, offering an extra hydration boost for thirsty skin. Our body butters include butters but also some oils that together offer a deliciously rich moisturizing treat that will glide onto the skin like a layer of fine silk. By using a simple emulsification process, our butters are more stable, are not as quick to melt and become messy, and will remain velvety smooth hours after application. Deliciously scented or unscented, most find that emulsified body butters do not have the overly-greasy feel often associated with traditional whipped butters that are not emulsified. Applied to clean skin, body butters can provide a wonderful year-round skin treat that can help protect and also moisturize dry, weathered skin, so that it feels hydrated, nourished, and youthfully revitalized.
About Emulsified Body Butters?
Traditional whipped body butters are anhydrous (without water) and are usually formulated with a single butter or combination of butters and oils that are whipped and then packaged. They are lovely but can have a greasy after-feel or become unstable, melting as temperatures begin to rise. That can pose a problem during transport or even in a steamy bathroom. In order to eliminate the greasy feel and reduce the chance of delivering a jar of melted butters, we opted to offer our customers an emulsified body butter.
Emulsifying is the process used with all lotions, creams, butters, and even some scrubs to stabilize and bind ingredients that otherwise don't care to mix. Whereas body butters are often anhydrous (no water), emulsified body butters, like lotions and creams, contain liquid and an emulsifying wax which acts as a mild stabilizer, helping to improve the consistency and texture of the final product. This may aid in replacing the greasy feel with a silkier feel and can increase the ability of the body butter to hold up better under warmer temperatures.
INGREDIENT SUPERSTARS:
Shea Butter - Shea makes up a large portion of the butter used in our whipped body butter. Only quality, fair trade shea is used in all of our products. Naturally rich in Vitamins E and A, essential fatty acids, and other minerals and vitamins, shea butter is known for its many skin benefits and is wonderful for dry skin. It is also known among oils and butters to have a slow absorption rate, which can account for that greasy feel in body butters. By emulsifying our butters, our customers can enjoy the wonderful benefits of shea without feeling overly greasy.
Mango Butter - Mango Butter is a natural source of Vitamin A and often used to treat dry skin. Mango Butter is one of those butters with a fast absorption rate.
Sweet Almond Oil - Sweet Almond Oil is a light oil rich in Vitamins E and A, as well as fatty acids.
Avocado Oil - Truly a superstar among oils, avocado oil is rich in beta carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids, Vitamins E, A, & D. With so many skin-loving benefits, we decided it was a no-brainer to include it in our body butter.
Sunflower Oil - Sunflower Oil has high amounts of Vitamins E, A, D, oleic acids, lecithin, and unsaturated fatty acids. It is often recommended for damaged, dry, weathered, or aging skin because of its conditioning and skin-nourishing qualities. Sunflower oil is considered to have an average absorption rate; but since our butters are emulsified, all of our oils/butters will sink beautifully into your skin.
Mallow Extract - The Ancient Romans used mallow for its soothing properties for dry and sensitive skin, and who can argue with something that's been held in such high regard in skin care for that many years.
Vitamin E - With so many factors like pollution, stress, and unhealthy food additives taking its toll on our skin, Vitamin E may offer some relief, as it is filled with antioxidants that are said to help neutralize free radicals and help protect skin. That's a pretty big job to take on, but we've elected to include it in our formula and think of Vitamin E as that little exclamation point of inspirational antioxidant love added to our body butters.
